Kim Kardashian loses another diamond, igniting backlash

Kim Kardashian dazzled in diamonds during her first-ever trip to India—until one mysteriously disappeared. What followed sparked a wave of online outrage.

Kim is known for making headlines wherever she goes. She traveled to India with her sister Khloé last July to attend the extravagant wedding of Anant Ambani.

They were expecting a scene straight out of Aladdin. The sisters quickly realized reality was quite different from their Disney-inspired vision.

“I thought it was going to be like the marketplace,” Kim admitted. “This is like the streets.” She continued, referencing Aladdin’s iconic scene, “What you see him going through, stealing some bread—I thought we were headed there.”

A Diamond Goes Missing Amid the Opulence

Despite their initial surprise, the sisters immersed themselves in the lavish celebrations. Dressed in over 1,000 carats of diamonds, emeralds, and pearls. Designed by Lorraine Schwartz, they embraced the glamour—until disaster struck.

The wedding aired on The Kardashians on March 13. Kim suddenly realized a diamond from her necklace had vanished. In a moment of panic, she and Khloé searched frantically, with Kim exclaiming, “Oh my God. I’m gonna have to pay for this.”

Surrounded by A-list guests like Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra, and John Cena, the sisters’ frantic search was momentarily overshadowed by the glitzy atmosphere. Despite the tension, they still found time to pose for photos, prompting viewers to question Kim’s priorities.

Social Media Reacts: “Lost or Stole?”

The internet wasted no time weighing in. Many sarcastically asked, “Lost or stole?” Others were quick to point out that Kim has a history of misplacing expensive jewelry.

“Poor lady, let’s start a GoFundMe,” one user joked, while another called it a “recycled storyline,” referencing Kim’s infamous 2011 incident in Bora Bora, when she lost a diamond earring in the ocean—prompting Kourtney Kardashian’s now-iconic line, “Kim, there’s people that are dying.”

A Complicated Relationship with Diamonds

Kim has since joked about the Bora Bora incident. She revealed that Kylie Jenner actually found the missing earring after diving into the water. However, her relationship with expensive jewelry took a serious turn after being robbed at gunpoint in Paris in 2016, where thieves stole approximately $10 million worth of valuables.

In a 2021 interview, Kim admitted she no longer keeps expensive jewelry at home due to the trauma. After this latest incident, one social media user quipped, “Maybe don’t give her any more diamonds.”

One thing is certain—whether she’s losing them or making headlines because of them, Kim Kardashian and diamonds always seem to be a dramatic duo.
